Orangeburg County nets biggest pot bust ever

ORANGEBURG, SC (WACH)– The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office announced the largest marijuana seizure in the history of the Sheriff’s Office.

Orangeburg County deputies arrested Berley O'Brien Greene, 37, Wednesday night.  Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said the estimated street value of the marijuana exceeds $3.7 million. During the execution of search warrants at multiple locations, officers seized more than $100,000 in cash, a Chevy Silverado, three BMWs, a Mercedes-Benz, a cargo trailer, two four wheelers, a dirt bike, electronic surveillance equipment, and a rifle.

Ravenell said an extensive investigation by the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department netted the arrest of a Greene and more than half-ton of marijuana.

Berley O’Brian Greene is being held on a $500,000 bond. He is charged with trafficking marijuana.
