Columbia, SC (WACH) --- Although we happily said, "Goodbye," to the triple digit heat, we`ve had to say, "Hello," to the return of severe weather.

A front has stalled out over the Midlands and has supported the development of thunderstorms across  the area, and the southeast.  This front will remain stalled out for several days which means the threat of severe weather in the afternoon and evening will remain in the forecast.

Warm, moist air thanks to southerly winds, heating of the day, and this frontal boundary are the perfect ingredients for the development of thunderstorms.  The main threat with these storms will be heavy downpours, dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning, and damaging winds.  Hail can also not be ruled out with many of these storms.

Stay with WACH Fox for the latest on your forecast.  Should severe weather develop, you can get the latest information on our severe weather page of MidlandsConnect.com.
