CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Circuit Judge Diane Goodstein and her husband, Summerville attorney Arnold Goodstein, have agreed to pay $500,000 to settle a property dispute.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reports the dispute centered over property transferred before Arnold Goodstein's personal bankruptcy in 2010.

Bankruptcy Court filings show Michelle Vieira was the court-appointed trustee in charge of liquidating Goodstein's assets to repay some of his $61 million in debt after his home-building business collapsed.

Vieira had said in court filings she discovered multiple property transfers to "insiders," which can include family members, and some properties changed hands for less than their value.

She threatened legal action. A settlement was reached last month with the Goodsteins not admitting liability or wrongdoing.

Under the agreement, none of the parties may discuss the settlement.
