Columbia Police said via release on Tuesday that Lawanda Ann Cummings, 42, was arrested Monday night and is charged with Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct With a Minor.

COLUMBIA (WACH) - A female cafeteria worker at Dutch Fork Middle School is accused of engaging in a sex act with a 13-year-old.
Columbia Police said via release on Tuesday that Lawanda Ann Cummings, 42, was arrested Monday night and is charged with Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct With a Minor.
Police accused Cummings of having sex with the teenager at an apartment on Columbiana Drive last year.
Authorities say Cummings was employed as a cafeteria worker at the school while the victim was a student.
A spokesman for Lexington-Richland District 5 says Cummings and the victim were acquainted through off-school activities and there is no indication that any inappropriate activities occurred on school property when Cummings was on duty or when the student was under the school's care. He says the District became aware of the situation when the student told a guidance counselor, and adds the student will receive any necessary counseling and support.
Cummings was taken to the Richland County jail.
