COLUMBIA (WACH) - Columbia Police Chief Randy Scott gave an update Monday on a shooting that took place in Five Points early last Saturday.

At the news conference, Scott showed the media a first look at the surveillance video related to the case.

"When everyone else was running from the fire, every City of Columbia Police Officer was running towards the gunshots to save lives," said Chief Scott.

Authorities say Shiquan Tyon Cwiklinski fired several gunshots as bars closed Saturday morning in Columbia's entertainment district.

According to investigators the shooting started with a fight that happened inside the Library Bar.

"We plan for this type of stuff to happen and that's why no loss of life happened Saturday night in Five Points," said Scott.

Dozens of people were in the area, but no one was injured.

Cwiklinski was arrested at a Walmart on Forest Drive Saturday and is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. The 18-year-old is charged with two counts of attempted murder.

Cwiklinski has an extensive criminal record and was out on bond at the time of this shooting.  His bond is set at $325,00.

Scott says this type of violence will not be tolerated.
