COLUMBIA (WACH) - Emergency crews responding to a possible water rescue call found a person swimming the Congaree River in the rain Tuesday.

A spokesperson with the Columbia Fire Department says a citizen called authorities Tuesday afternoon after seeing someone in the river.

Fire officials say responding crews made contact with the swimmer, who was not in distress.
