COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH / AP) -- Icy conditions are possible in parts of South Carolina heading into the weekend.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for parts of the state in effect until early Saturday morning.

The advisory locations include Newberry, Fairfield and Kershaw counties.

Of the counties mentioned in the WACH Fox viewing area, the northern fringe of each county is where winter weather is expected.

Sleet and freezing rain are the main threats, with the chance for a little snow.

Little ice accumulation is expected, which could lead to hazardous travel conditions especially on bridges and overpasses.

No precipitation was falling in the state early Friday morning.

By Friday afternoon, especially by the afternoon rush, please use caution if driving to the Upstate of South Carolina or into North Carolina.

Stay up-to-date with the very latest with the SkyWACH Weather Team.
