Richland Co. (WACH)--A man is behind bars after he allegedly tried to get to his victim using a machete.

Richland County Sheriff's Department Spokesman Curtis Wilson said they responded to an attempted murder call around 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the 300 block of Crane Creek Dr. Wilson said the incident involved two men who were fighting.

Deputies say the suspect, Juan Angel Cabora, 32, beat the other man in the upper body. That victim was able to get away and lock himself in a room.

Wilson said that is when Cabora picked up a machete and tried to hack his way into the room. Cabora was arrested and has been transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

The victim was treated by Richland County EMS and released.

The incident remains under investigation.
