RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WACH) - Richland County deputies have arrested a suspect in a stabbing that occurred early Tuesday morning.

Sheriff Leon Lott says investigators were able to locate  and arrest Jose Casto-Benegas, 25, after questioning witnesses and acquaintances.

Benegas is accused of physically assaulting a female victim around 3 a.m. Tuesday on Alpine Road. When three men tried to intervene, Casto-Benegas is accused of pulling out a knife and stabbing the men before leaving the area, according to Lott.

Deputies responding to the scene saw two of the men with stab wounds to the upper body on the ground and a third victim standing, also with stab wounds to the upper body.

Authorities say the victims were taken to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital with non-life threatening to serious injuries.
