A storm that drenched Florida over the weekend is now moving up the East Coast into the Carolinas. The system is set to usher in wind gusts of up to 25 miles-per-hour and some heavy rain at times in the Midlands. SkyWACH forecasters say the South Carolina coast should see almost 4 inches of rain and winds nearing tropical storm forces Monday.

More than 1,600 SCE&G customers remain without power Thursday after a line of severe thunderstorms pushed through the Midlands Wednesday evening downing trees and power lines. As of 1 p.m. the majority of customers without power are in Aiken, Allendale, Colleton, Fairfield and Richland counties.
