Five landscapers working outside during thunderstorms Tuesday were struck by lightning, according to officials. Columbia fire officials say one person was hospitalized with minor injuries after a tree the crew was working under was hit by lightning around 3 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the second time this weekend. Sunday's watch includes every county in the Midlands except Aiken. The watch is in place until 8pm Sunday.

More than 1,600 SCE&G customers remain without power Thursday after a line of severe thunderstorms pushed through the Midlands Wednesday evening downing trees and power lines. As of 1 p.m. the majority of customers without power are in Aiken, Allendale, Colleton, Fairfield and Richland counties.
