Thursday, March 01, 2012  Columbia police say two people are no longer employed at the department after the investigation into missing Columbia CEO Tom Sponseller. Officers found Sponseller dead in a locked room inside a downtown Columbia parking garage attached to the executive's office building. Sponseller had been missing for ten days.

Saturday, October 22, 2011  A Columbia police officer accused of paying a 17-year-old for sex is out of jail on a PR bond. According to Richland County deputies, Officer Mark Cornish paid a prostitute for a sex act and has met with her more than once.
