CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Another county in South Carolina is now designated as being in a severe drought.

The South Carolina Drought Response Committee has voted to add Aiken County to six other counties along the upper Savannah River that are now considered to be in a severe drought. All the rest of the state remains in a moderate drought.

The committee was told Wednesday that South Carolina has just come through one of the three warmest winters on record and the 13th driest. Stream and river levels are low and forecasts for the next couple months call for below average rainfall and above average temperatures.

Representatives of water systems attending the meeting said they are not having any problems yet but are watching the situation closely.
