COLUMBIA (WACH) - The final open practice of the seaon was not one to dissapoint Gamecock fans.

“It was a good scrimmage  We got 85 plays in - a lot of good plays by the offense, some bad plays. A lot of good plays by the defense and (some) not so good plays by them also. The punters hit some good ones. The kickers hit some good ones and some bad ones. It was just practice. Hopefully we can learn from it and get better,” said Head Coach Steve Spurrier.

Four quarterbacks saw action Wednesday.  The best performance came from Andrew Clifford who completed ten of his thirteen passes for 142 yards.  Connor Shaw, who started for the last half of the 2011, season finished up with 98 yards and 9 completions on 12 attempts.

On the receiving front tight end Jerell Adams caught four passes for 83 yards and a touchdown.  Bruce Ellington caught 3 passes for 38 yards.

The Gamecocks will returned to the practice fields on Thursday morning at 10 a.m. That practice, and all remaining practices, are closed to both the media and the public, as the team works on the game plan for the season opener against Vanderbilt on August 30.
