COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Tyrus Thomas scored 10 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter and the Charlotte Bobcats won for the first time in five exhibition games this season, beating the Detroit Pistons 97-94 on Saturday night.

It wasn't easy for the Bobcats. They gave up a three-point play to Detroit's Rodney Stuckey with 18.3 seconds left, then had to take two timeouts to get the ball inbounds ahead by one with 11.1 seconds to go.

But D.J. Augustin and Derrick Brown combined for 10 of 12 free throws in the final 1:03 to help seal the win.

Augustin also had a key steal with the Bobcats up three with 7 seconds to go as Stuckey slipped on an inbounds play. Stuckey led Detroit (2-4) with 25 points.
