Norwood named semifinalist for Lombardi award

COLUMBIA, SC - University of South Carolina linebacker Eric Norwood keeps on turning heads.  The senior linebacker is one of 12 semifinalists named for the 2009 Rotary Lombardi Award.  The Rotary Club of Houston made the announcement Wednesday.

Norwood, a 6-1, 252-pounder from Acworth, Ga., is a two-time first-team All-SEC selection.  He is the SEC activeleader in both career sacks with 28, and career tackles for loss at 49.5.  He South Carolina's career leader in both categories. 

Norwood leads the SEC in sacks this season with 6.0 and is third in the league in tackles for loss while leading the Gamecocks in tackles. He has played in all 44 games over the past four seasons, making 31 consecutive starts.
