COLUMBIA (WACH)- The Columbia Blowfish topped the Edenton Steamers 8-4 Wednesday night at Capital City Stadium, taking a 1-0 series lead in round two of the Petitt Cup Playoffs.

With a win Thursday or Friday the Blowfish will advance to the Championship series for the first time in team history.

The Blowfish took a 1-0 lead in the first thanks to a Zach Smith RBI single.  But the Steamers scored the next four runs to take a 4-1 lead.

Columbia knotted the game at 4-4 with three runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by a two-run double from Danieal Torres.

Joshua Miller's RBI double in the fifth gave the Blowfish the lead for good.

Joel Seddon pitched three scoreless innings to get the win for Columbia.

The Blowfish now travel to Edenton, North Carolina for game two Thursday night and if necessary game three Friday night. With a win on either night the Blowfish will advance to the Petitt Cup Playoffs championship round and will be back at Capital City Stadium on Sunday, August 12.
