JACKSONVILLE, FL- Former USC safety Brad Edwards was announced as the new Athletics Director of Jacksonville University on Wednesday.

Edwards recently served as AD at Newberry College in Newberry, South Carolina.  He joined the Wolves athletics department in 2009.

An All-American free safety during his senior year in 1987, Edwards started two seasons for the Gamecocks and led the team in tackles and interceptions during his final year.

Edwards was drafted in the second round by the Minnesota Vikings in 1988 and played nine seasons with the Vikings, Atlanta Falcons, and Washington Redskins.

After his NFL career, Edwards joined his alma mater at USC where he worked eight years as senior associate athletics director for business and development.
