Columbia (WACH)- Steve Wilkerson singled in Jon McGibbon in the bottom of the ninth as Clemson avoided being swept by rival South Carolina on Sunday 6-5 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.  The Tigers move to 5-4 on the season, while USC drops to 9-1.

The Gamecocks jumped on Clemson early in the second scoring four runs, including a three-run homer by Grayson Greiner.  Greiner finished the day 2-for-3 with two homers, four RBIs, and one walk.

USC was ahead 5-3 in the eighth until Phil Pohl smashed a two-run homer to tie the game.  Then Wilkerson delivered the game-winning single in the ninth to complete the comeback.

South Carolina returns home Wednesday night when they face UNC Asheville at 7 p.m.  Clemson hosts Holy Cross on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
