COLUMBIA (WACH) – The Gamecock football team saw a crowd of thousands for fan appreciation day on Sunday at Colonial Life Arena.

Student-athletes were able to sign autographs for an estimated 3,070 fans.

The volleyball, cross country, men's and women's soccer teams, along with the cheer squad and Cocky, were also in attendance.

“I think it’s great, it gives fans a chance to interact with the players and coaches,” said Gamecock fan Evan Carroll.

“It’s a time for the fans to show the football players that we’ve got their backs 100 percent,” said Gamecock fan Desiree Moody.

South Carolina’s season opener is set for September 3rd at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, against East Carolina University.
