CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -- Clemson will host the Atlantic Coast Conference cross country championships for the first time since 2001.

The school announced the choice as host Monday. It says the men's and women's meet will be held on Oct. 29 at Musser Farms, a peach orchard that was first used for cross country last fall.

Clemson director of track and cross country Lawrence Johnson said he was happy to showcase the team's new cross country course to the rest of the league.

The ACC has begun granting Clemson the chance to host some title meets after going nearly a decade following the NCAA's ban on predetermined championships because South Carolina flies a Confederate flag on Statehouse grounds. The ACC rowing championshs were held on Lake Hartwell near Clemson in 2010 and 2011.
