COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina senior forward Malik Cooke dislocated his right ankle and could need up to three months to heal.
Cooke hurt the ankle during a pickup game last month. He is not having surgery, but could be out of action from two-to-three months. That timetable would still give him about a month before the Gamecocks open fall practice in mid-October.
Cooke is the only senior and one of just two upper classmen on South Carolina's 11-man roster entering next fall. He played in 30 games last season, starting 17 of them. Cooke averaged better than nine points and six rebounds a game.
