INDIANAPOLIS (WACH/NCAA) - South Carolina and Clemson have been selected to host an NCAA regional when the post season gets underway next weekend.
The Gamecocks are the number one seed in its regional and the 4th seed nationally. South Carolina will face regional 4th seed Georgia Southern. Carolina Stadium will also play host to 3rd seed NC State and 2nd seed Stetson.
Clemson is the top seed in its regional and faces 4th seed Sacred Heart. Coastal Carolina, the 3rd seed, will play 2nd seed Connecticut.
Each regional field features four teams, playing in a double-elimination format. All 16 regionals are scheduled to be conducted from Friday, June 3 to Monday, June 6.
Both schools are hosting for the 13th time. The Gamecocks won their regional last season enroute to the school's first NCAA Championship. This is South Carolina's 27th trip to the NCAA post season.
A limited number of NCAA Baseball Regional booklets are now on sale to the general public, the South Carolina Ticket Office announced. If available, single game tickets for regional games will go on sale Monday morning.
Pre-ordered tickets can be picked up starting Wednesday at the Clemson Athletic Ticket Office. IPTAY members can purchase ticket books online at ClemsonTigers.com Sunday and over the phone Monday.
