CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Carolina Panthers quarterback Matt Moore has been replaced by rookie Jimmy Clausen after hurting his right shoulder on a sack.

Moore was brought down by New Orleans defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis on third down early in the second quarter on Sunday. Moore was favoring his right shoulder as he jogged off the field. He tried to throw on the sideline, but was wincing and then walked inside to get treatment.

The Panthers said Moore's return was questionable.

Carolina had already lost running back Jonathan Stewart to a head injury in the first quarter. Starting middle linebacker Dan Connor was sidelined after aggravating a hip injury.

Moore was knocked out of Carolina's season-opening game against the New York Giants with a concussion.
