Western Carolina beats Furman 31-17

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- Tersoo Uhaa ran for two touchdowns and caught a touchdown pass as Furman defeated Western Carolina 31-17 on Saturday.

Sophomore Dakota Derrick, making his first collegiate start, completed 12 of 23 passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns for the Paladins (5-4, 3-3 Southern Conference).

Uhaa, who scored on a 6-yard run in the first quarter, scored on a 6-yarder in the third quarter to give the Paladins a 21-17 lead. After a field goal made it 24-17, Uhaa caught a 6-yard touchdown pass from Derrick with 3:11 remaining in the third quarter for the final margin. Uhaa finished with 62 yards rushing on 14 carries.

Furman has won five straight against the Catamounts and 12 of the past 13 meetings.

Nate Harris and Michael Johnson each rushed for a touchdown for the Catamounts (2-7, 1-5), who have lost four games in a row.
