COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- For Furman and The Citadel, the real season begins Saturday.

The Paladins host the Bulldogs in the 90th meeting between the Southern Conference rivals. It's the SoCon opener for both teams.

Furman coach Bobby Lamb says he told his players at practice this week that from here on out, every game counts toward the goal of making the playoffs.

In other games involving the state's Football Championship Subdivision teams, Presbyterian will try to end a 17-game losing streak by beating Division II North Greenville.

Coastal Carolina is trying to shake off its first ever 0-3 start against Delaware State and Charleston Southern gets both a football game and a vacation at Hawaii.
