Duke edges Butler for the title

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Duke beat Butler in last night's national championship game in a contest that literally went down to the final buzzer. Gordon Hayward's three-point shot from half court bounced off the rim as the clock ran out, giving the Blue Devils a 61-59 victory over the Bulldogs in the men's NCAA basketball championship game.

Duke's Kyle Singler scored 19 points and was named the Final Four's Most Outstanding Player.

It's coach Mike Krzyzewski's (shuh-SHEF'-skeez) fourth national title, tying Adolph Rupp of Kentucky for second place on the all-time list. It's the ACC school's first championship since 2001.

The Blue Devils snapped Butler's 25-game winning streak and brought the national title back home to Carolina and the Cameron Crazies. They finish their season 35-5.

The loss ends Butler's season with 33 wins and five losses.
