CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -- Clemson coach Oliver Purnell says his team is poised to take even bigger steps next season despite losing star Trevor Booker and falling in the first round of the NCAA tournament for the third consecutive year.
Purnell said Friday the depth of players he has returning makes the Tigers a contender for a school-record fourth consecutive appearance in the NCAAs.
Purnell says it will be difficult without his first team all-Atlantic Coast Conference performer and leading scorer.
But Booker's little brother Devin and forward Jerai Grant will work the middle next season. Purnell also expects guards Demontez Stitt and Andre Young to play bigger roles.
Clemson ended the year 21-11 -- the team's fourth consecutive season of 20-plus victories.
