(AP) -- Chris Epps and Phil Pohl each hit grand slams, and Richie Shaffer added a 3-run shot as No. 9 Clemson beat No. 15 South Carolina 19-6 on Sunday.
A record crowd of 8,214 fans at Carolina Stadium watched the rubber game of the weekend series.
The 19 runs are the most scored by Clemson (9-1) against South Carolina since a 27-17 win on May 5, 1962.
Epps staked the Tigers to an early lead in the second. Clemson loaded the bases without the benefit of a hit. South Carolina starter Tyler Webb walked two batters and hit another to load the bases for Epps. He drilled his second home run of the series to straight-away centerfield.
That ended Webb's day as he took the loss to fall to 0-1.
Epps later added a RBI single to finish with six RBIs on the weekend. He was 7-for-13 to win the Bob Bradley Award winner as the series MVP for the Tigers.
Mike Freeman followed Epps with his second solo home run of the year. Wilson Boyd added a RBI single to put Clemson in front 6-0. Clemson finished with five home runs.
Clemson added to the lead with two runs in the fourth. Shaffer blasted a 3-run home run in the sixth and the Tigers pushed across a single run in the seventh, two in the eighth and five in the ninth. Pohl connected for his grand slam in the ninth.
Scott Weismann (2-0) earned the victory. The sophomore pitched six innings, allowed three runs, two earned on five hits. He struck out five and walked two.
