Siem shoots 64 for lead at tournament in India

GURGAON, India (AP) — Marcel Siem of Germany birdied the ninth hole Thursday en route to an 8-under 64 and a one-stroke lead after the first round of the Avantha Masters tournament.

Chan Yih-shin of Taiwan, who won his first career title in December at the King's Cup, is one stroke back. He had a birdie on the par-5 18th hole at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurgaon, India.

Five players, including Thaworn Wiratchant of Thailand, are tied for third after 67s.

Former European Ryder Cup player Darren Clarke shot 71, while Jeev Milkha Singh had a 72 and David Howell had a 74.
