(AP) -- COLUMBIA, S.C.-- Clemson heads into its season-ending rivarly against South Carolina without defensive end Ricky Sapp.
Tigers coach Dabo Swinney said Sunday that Sapp partially tore the ACL in his right knee in a 13-3 victory over Virginia and is out for the rest of the season.
Swinney says Sapp, who is a junior, is expected to have surgery in the next few weeks.
Sapp started nine games this season. He was tied for the team in sacks with two and in tackles for loss with 10.
The Tigers need a victory over South Carolina to qualify for the postseason since they played two games this year against Football Championship Subdivision opponents.
