CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -- Clemson interim coach Dabo Swinney called a day off from practice and took his Tigers to visit cancer patients at Greenville Memorial Children's Hospital.

The players had position meetings as usual Wednesday. But instead of heading for the practice field, the group of about 100 players, coaches and staff made the 30-mile trip.

Swinney said it would be a great team building experience for the club, still finding its footing since head coach Tommy Bowden stepped down Oct. 13.

The Tigers visited over 50 children at the hospital during the 90-minute visit. Clemson returns to practice Thursday, this time Swinney opening the gates for students to watch.

The Tigers will be off Friday, Saturday and Sunday, then return to workouts Monday in preparation for their next game at Boston College on Nov. 1.
