COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Asia Dozier scored 14 of her 16 points in the second half and Spring Valley avenged last year's loss in the Class 4A girls basketball state championship with a 41-35 victory over Goose Creek on Friday night at the Colonial Life Arena.
The Vikings (29-0) trailed 16-12 after a slow-paced first half, but Dozier heated up in the third quarter with nine points as Spring Valley went on a 14-4 run to open the quarter.
Goose Creek (28-3) got 11 points from Ashley Fields and closed to within one, 34-33, in the fourth quarter, but the Vikings made seven straight free throws to seal their second state championship in three years.
