COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- The University of South Carolina's athletic booster group says it will raise the annual donation levels for the 2014 giving year.

The Gamecock Club board of directors said Tuesday that donation levels would increase by 5 percent. The exception was the entry Roost level, which will go from $55 to $100.

Club director Patrick McFarland says the increases were necessary to keep up with the rising cost of tuition and assets to help athletes succeed.

The booster group funds scholarships for South Carolina's athletes.

Club leaders said it was just the third increase in donation levels since 1989. The last increase came in 2008.
