NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WACH/AP) -- Former Clemson quarterback Willy Korn is the new receivers coach at Charleston Southern.

The hire was made Tuesday by Buccaneers coach Jamey Chadwell. Korn played two seasons for Chadwell at North Greenville after the quarterback left Clemson.

Willy Korn was one of the nation's top recruits at Byrnes High when he signed with Clemson. Injuries sidetracked his career with the Tigers and Korn went to Marshall for a brief time before joining North Greenville.

Korn threw for 4,058 yards and 45 touchdowns in two years with the Crusaders.

For the last month, Korn was working out with the Arena Football League's Arizona Rattlers, but said his chance of making the team was "kind of fifty-fifty," so he called his old coach looking for an opportunity.

Now Korn is happy to launch his coaching career in his home state.

"Obviously I jumped at it the first chance I could get. This is what I want to do, what I want to dedicate the rest of my life to. I knew that about five years ago this is what I want to get into," said Korn. "Not too many 24-year-olds get an opportunity to start their coaching career at the FCS level at a school like Charleston Southern."

One of Korn's new Charleston Southern receivers will be his younger brother, Colton, who signed with the Football Championship Subdivision school in February.

Korn graduated from Clemson with a communications degree in 2010.
