COLUMBIA (WACH) - The South Carolina Gamecocks will debut custom uniforms Saturday as they take on Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.

The Under Armour "Battle" uniforms are dark gray with garnet and black accents on the sleeves. The numbers are white and are outlined in garnet, making the numbers very easy to see.

In 2011 when the Gamecocks wore custom "Wounded Warrior" jerseys against Auburn, they were asked to change out of the jerseys by the conference after officials said there were visibility issues concerning the numbers. The numbers on those jerseys featured a camoflauge design outlined in garnet.

The base layer under the new uniforms and the new uniform pants are a camoflauge design that incorporates the palmetto tree and moon within the design.

"Our players looked at them this summer and really liked them," said head coach Steve Spurrier

Spurrier says the players will receive the uniforms as a bowl gift when the season's over.

Garnet and Black are the official school colors at the University of South Carolina, but "State House Gray" is one of the ten colors in the school's "secondary palette," which is used to "provide versatility and variety when developing communications materials for university programs."

The uniforms are slightly darker than the State House Gray color.
