CLEMSON (WACH)- Clemson's rally from six runs down falls short as the 12th-ranked Virginia Cavaliers won game three and the series over the Tigers 8-5 on Sunday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.  The Tigers fell to 11-7 overall and 3-3 in the ACC.

The Cavs took a 6-0 lead into the sixth inning when Clemson finally broke through. A Jon McGibbon RBI double scored Shane Kennedy to make it 6-1, and Tyler Krieger followed with a single to right to score McGibbon.

Clemson cut the lead to three in the seventh, but would get no closer as Virginia added on two more runs late.

The Tigers return to action on Tuesday when they host Morehead State in a two-game, midweek series.  First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. in game one.
