COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Clemson All-America receiver Sammy Watkins won't play against Boston College because of an abdominal virus.

The school said in a statement Thursday that Watkins was diagnosed with the virus and would not travel with the 17th-ranked Tigers (3-1, 0-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) when they face the Eagles (1-2, 0-1). It will be the third game this season Watkins will miss.

He sat out the first two games after his suspension for an offseason drug arrest. He returned Sept. 15 and had a 58-yard touchdown run against Furman. Last week, Watkins threw a 52-yard TD pass to Andre Ellington is Clemson's 49-37 loss to No. 4 Florida State.

Watkins set single-season school records with 1,219 yards and 12 touchdown catches in 2011. He has 10 catches for 76 yards this year.
