COLUMBIA- USC head baseball coach Ray Tanner has placed freshman catcher Grayson Greiner on the active roster for this weekend against Oklahoma in the Columbia Super Regional. Greiner suffered a left knee injury in practice last week and needed surgery.
Tanner says although Greiner will be in uniform, he does not expect him to catch. The freshman has a .236 batting average and six home runs to go along with 31 runs batted in.
The pitching matchups for Saturday's and Sunday's games have also been announced. The Gamecocks will give the ball to senior left-hander Michael Roth in game one and the Sooners will throw sophomore Jordan John. Colby Holmes will start for USC in Sunday's game two while Jonathan Gray will counter for Oklahoma.
First pitch Saturday is set for 8:00 PM and will be televised on ESPNU.
