COLUMBIA - South Carolina freshman catcher Grayson Greiner sustained a lateral meniscus tear to his left knee during practice on Wednesday afternoon at Carolina Stadium, according to a release from the university.  Greiner will undergo arthroscopic surgery on Thursday.  He will miss the Columbia Regional.

Greiner, who played at Blythewood High School, has appeared in 55 games and is hitting .236 (41-for-174) with six homers and 31 RBI.   Defensively, he has thrown out 17 of 39 runners attempting to steal on him.  He was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team Turesday and recently accepted a spot on this summer’s USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.
