COLUMBIA - Adam Matthews hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 8th inning, lifting South Carolina to a 1-0 win over Alabama Friday in the completion of a game suspended Thursday night by weather.  USC has now won nine straight SEC games.

Matthews' dinger was the Gamecocks' only hit for the entire game.

Tyler Webb was the winning pitcher in relief, and Matt Price recorded the save.

The second game of the series will be played Friday night at 7 pm.
