Kevin Brady (1-2), the first of three Tiger hurlers, suffered the loss. He surrendered four hits, three runs (one earned), and one walk with two strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings pitched.
Brad Felder hit his 4th home run of the season for Clemson.
Clemson and Virginia will play game-two of the three-game series on Saturday at 11:00 AM. The game was originally scheduled to start at 1:00 PM, but the threat of inclement weather forced the change.
