Columbia (WACH)-- The fifth-seeded USC women's basketball team advanced to the Sweet 16 with a 72-61 win over the four-seed Purdue Monday night.  The Gamecocks will meet number one seed Stanford on Saturday in Fresno, California.

"I think our preparation has been good," head coach Dawn Staley said.  "Our focus has been good."

The Gamecocks (25-9) dominated both of their opponents in the first two rounds, scoring 80 against Eastern Michigan, then following it up with 72 on the Boilermakers.

"I think the fact that we're not playing our conference, we find some mismatches on the offensive end and we're able to capitalize," Staley said.

This marks the third trip to the Sweet 16 for South Carolina, and the first time the Gamecocks have made it there since 2002.  It is Staley's first appearance in the Sweet 16 as a head coach.

WACH Fox will be in Fresno and have full coverage on the Gamecocks as they try to advance to the Elite Eight.
