COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina has named a compliance director for several sports at Ohio State the Gamecocks' new head of compliance.

South Carolina officials said Tuesday that Chris Rogers has overseen compliance for football and six other sports at Ohio State since 2007.

Rogers takes over for Jennifer Stiles, who was demoted after her office signed off for reduced hotel rates for athletes that ended up being major NCAA violations.

The football program imposed its own penalties for the violations, eliminating six football scholarships over the next three years. The NCAA will decide if that is punishment enough at a hearing next week in Los Angeles.

The Ohio State football team has had its own problems recently with the NCAA. The Buckeyes lost scholarships and are banned from a bowl next season.
