USC's Ingram named SEC defensive player of the week

COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The SEC has named South Carolina defensive end Melvin Ingram as the conference's defensive player of the week after his performance against Vanderbilt Saturday.  This is the second time Ingram has been awarded with the title this season.

The 6'2", 276 pound senior from Hamlet, NC scored his third touchdown of the season after recovering a fumble in the second quarter, leading to a 21-3 win over Vandy.

Ingram also had four tackles for three losses totaling 24 yards.

Ingram was also selected as the National Defensive Lineman of the week by CollegeFootballPerformance.com.

The 4-0 Gamecocks take on Auburn this Saturday at home.

The following week, USC will square off against Kentucky.  That game is set to start at 12:21 p.m.
