COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The University of South Carolina acknowledged it received a notice of allegations from the NCAA Monday.
The letter includes the results of an investigation that began more than a year ago, into discounted rates for USC athletes at the Whitney Hotel and extra benefits for athletes through a mentoring foundation.
The NCAA letter alleges the Whitney Hotel gave almost $50,000 worth of discounted rent to a dozen USC athletes from 2009 to 2010.
The NCAA also alleges two USC boosters, Kevin Lahn and Steve Gordon, provided illegal benefits to USC athletes through their student athlete mentoring foundation. The university recently ended its relationship with that group after the four game suspension of Wide Receiver Damiere Byrd.
The school says it will continue to cooperate with the NCAA and will respond by December 14.
