COLUMBIA (WACH) – A University of South Carolina freshman linebacker has been suspended from the Gamecock football team after he was arrested in Five Points.

Police say Edward Muldrow, 18, was seen carrying a bottle of beer in Five Points last Thursday.

Authorities say Muldrow tossed his bottle into the bushes when the officer told him to come over.

Police say Muldrow was cooperative and gave the officer his full name.

Muldrow was taken by police to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, where he was charged with drunkenness, possession of alcohol and littering.

Muldrow is a freshman from Snellville, Georgia and is considered a three-star prospect and the 30th-best outside linebacker recruit by Scout.com.

USC policy states any player who is arrested, is immediately suspended.

Head Coach Steve Spurrier was unavailable for comment on Monday.
