COLUMBIA (WACH) -  Jackie Bradley Jr. says he's not ruling out a return to the field this season.

On Tuesday afternoon Bradley spoke to the media for the first time since undergoing surgery to repair a tendon in his left wrist.

Bradley suffered the injury last month while making a diving catch against Mississippi State.

"I'm very optimistc about it and I've been known to heal pretty quickly. I'm hoping everything works out the way that I know it can," said Bradley.

Bradley says he will go back for a check-up on Friday, adding that he could be back hitting in six to eight weeks.

After that - he'll wait to get the nod from USC Head Coach Ray Tanner.

The junior outfielder was the MVP of the Gamecocks College World Series win last year.

At the time of his injury - Bradley was in a bit of a slump, batting just .259 with 26 RBI.

Right now Bradley's injury hasn't seemed to hurt his draft status. He is still predicted to go in the first or second round of next month's draft.
