NEW YORK (AP) — Catcher Yorvit Torrealba has lost his grievance against the New York Mets.

Arbitrator Shyam Das ruled Thursday the Mets had the right to not complete a $14.4 million, three-year agreement with Torrealba in November 2007.

The terms signed by the team and Torrealba's representative said the deal was subject to a physical that was satisfactory to the Mets. The team concluded it had concerns about his throwing shoulder.

The players' association filed a grievance the following April. A hearing before Das started in December 2009.
