COLUMBIA (WACH) – Gamecock Head Football Coach Steve Spurrier held a press conference Friday, wrapping up the entire 2010 season, plus gave insights into what the future holds for his team.

Coach Spurrier began the conference announcing a shift in coaching staff responsibilities.

Shane Beamer will coach only special teams but will remain the recruiting coordinator.

Jeep Hunter will coach safeties instead of tight ends.

Jay Graham will be taking over as tight ends coach, but will remain running-backs coach.

Ellison Johnson will add the Spurs to his group and will continue coaching linebackers.

Lorenzo Ward will be coaching cornerbacks.

Spurrier says the other coaches will remain in their positions and coordinator spots will go unchanged.

Other press conference notes:

- Spurrier says the Gamecocks are wrapping up their recruiting year.

"Trying to finish up recruiting, we are in the midst of what we think is a great recruiting year. Of course there are four or five big names still out there, so we're going to find out if we are going to have a great one or just a good one. We got a good one right now and it could end up a great one, if some of these last few guys come with us," said Spurrier.

- Spurrier also says the team is gearing up for spring practice and is motivated by the bowl loss to Florida State.

"We'll regroup. I know a lot of people believe when you win the bowl game everything's a lot nicer through the off season and it probably is. But - the other side of it, when you don't play very well, the coaches are a little bit more irritated and hopefully can get the attention of their guys and have  a productive spring practice," said Spurrier

Right now, there are four early enrollees on campus.

They are:
Offensive linemen Kaleb Broome
Defensive Tackle Kelcy Quarles
Quarterback Martay Mattox
Defensive back Brison Williams.

Spurrier says Marcus Lattimore will be getting a new helmet, after the freshman lost it several times this season.

The Gamecock football team will be honored at halftime of next Saturday's USC-Kentucky basketball game. The game starts at 6pm at Colonial Life Arena.
